For the first time in two years you’ve found yourself looking around the room with a new breed of hope. Could it be time for potty training?

You can finally see yourself leaving the house, relieved of the normal arsenal of diapers and wipes that usually hang from the satchel swinging over your shoulder.

Your life is about to change, you wistfully think. You are ready to find a leaner you strolling around town sans diaper bag, with a fatter set of pockets and without the never ending expense of diapers.

You’re looking forward to the little bit of extra space in the closet without the neatly lined rows of absorbent plastic.

Make a 3 day potty training pact and be independent by the weekend

Some parents are able to dive right into the process without so much as a post-it on the fridge highlighting a few potty training tips. Others scour the Net in search of all the help they can find.

Eventually, you will know when it’s the right time to get them out of the diapers. When that time finally arrives, you can follow the 3 day potty training plan to wash your hands of diapers forever.

Granted, the 3 day potty training plan is an ideal. For some it will take longer, but don’t worry. Even the best potty training advice won’t have you flushing 100% overnight.

Learning to use the toilet is a process, not an event. Understand that there are three basic stages, and you’ll be well on your way to having the best weapon for battling a stubborn child.

Patience is the essential ingredient to effective toilet training.

3 Day Potty Training

Think of each stage of the 3 day potty training plan as a single toilet teaching stage, each with its own theme, steps and skills to master. These stages are telling, showing, and trying. It is paramount that you are able to maintain your patience during each of these stages.

Help your child feel confident by not rushing them – a task that is often more difficult than it may at first sound.

Each day or stage of this toilet teaching plan is important. Taking the time to live through each stage rather than simply rushing through them, will help you avoid bombarding your child with new and sudden changes. The telling and showing stages gracefully overlap, allowing you as a parent to provide your child with a clear understanding of what is expected from them throughout the “3 day potty training” plan.

3 day potty training doesn’t necessarily mean toilet learning for 3 days and your done. Help your child understand and they will help make it a pleasant process. By spending time on each stage, potty training will be a rewarding time for parent and child.

The pride and joy they will feel when it’s over, will be worth every drop of sweat.

In our next post we’ll get started with potty training day one – telling.
