My Potty Training Power Success Story
Today’s guest post is the fourth in a four part series from writer and cartoonist, Blogger Dad (aka David Wright). While he drew all the art for Potty Training Power and designed this web site, this is his first experience with actual potty training.
He and his wife will be using the Potty Training Power System with their two year old son, E. All this week, he will share his potty training adventures right here.
If you missed part one of this series, you can catch it here. Part two is here and part three is here.
What a difference a week makes!
We’d gone from nearly doubting ourselves as parents to proudly giving our diapers to another parent because we no longer need them.
Yes, E is potty trained!
We stayed the course and continued positive praise and scheduled potty breaks just as Sean and Cindy suggested. A week later E is running around the house in his “big boy” underwear like a toddler-sized super hero. And the best part is we are no longer worried about puddles on the carpet… or the couch.
He still has a few accidents, though, as he hasn’t yet gotten the hang of knowing ahead of time when he is going to poo. One minute he is standing next to you talking and then the next minute, a look crosses his face and he hunches over. “Uh oh,” we’ll say as we race to the bathroom, though we’re usually too late.
We don’t make a big deal about it, though.
Sean is convinced that E will learn to feel the signs earlier. If not, he said he will suggest a few things we can do. We’re not worried though. Things are looking a thousand times better than they were last week.
Now that we’ve finally achieved success, my wife is a lot more relaxed and we’re happy in the knowledge that we were able to survive potty training.
The happiness is tinged a bit, though, with a bittersweet realization.
“Our little baby is growing up,” my wife said. And we hugged.
Thank you Potty Training Power!

Congratulations on ditching those diapers and giving the leftovers away with a smile. That bittersweet part between independence and where did my baby go is gut wrenching, but he will ALWAYS be your baby. Your first baby. The one that made you a parent. The best and hardest job you will every love.
